These factors may render a single stimulus to be left as merely a stimulus, not a percept that is subject for brain interpretation. The amount of information gathered by the sensory organs of the perceiver affects the interpretation and understanding about the target.ģ. It is something or someone who is being perceived. Oftentimes, he or she may employ the so- called "perceptual defense", which means that the person only perceives what he wants to perceive, even though the stimulus acts on his or her senses.Ģ. All of these factors, especially motivation and emotion, greatly contribute to how the person perceives a situation.
